Who Is The Best? Head to Head SEC vs Big 12

Well as most of you know next year this time the Big 12 will look a lot different than it does right now, but you have to play with what you got so we are going to take the current teams right now.

Mississippi State vs. Kansas - Kansas did have an impressive win over Georgia Tech but GT has shown not to be that good this year since then, and with losses to bad teams Kansas is just not that good. The good side is Mississippi State is not that good either but both of Mississippi’s St losses came in conference and have not lost an out of conference game yet, and they don’t lose this one either, just to physical for Kansas.

Winner: Mississippi State

Georgia vs. Texas Tech – Well to me this is an interesting game because Georgia just is not that good this year, and Texas Tech is changing their offense up. Texas Tech still scores a bunch of points averaging 34 a game, but they give up a whole bunch as well 30 points a game. Georgia only win of the season came against Louisiana-Lafayette and losses to Colorado and Mississippi State has drained the Bulldogs of their confidence. I would expect a tight game for about 2 quarters before the Red Raiders offense took over this game.

Winner: Texas Tech

Tennessee vs. Colorado – Colorado has beaten the Bulldogs but if you read what I wrote on Georgia, it is not a very impressive win this year. Tennessee almost upsets LSU but player confusion that has to be on the coach’s shoulder cost them that game. For the most part Tennessee has lost to who they supposed to lose to, and beat who they are supposed to beat. Colorado has beat some people that some would of thought they would of lost to, and only lost was to Cal which most saw that happening. This game would be close, and this game would be tight, but I think Rocky Top pulls it out.

Winner: Tennessee

Mississippi vs. Texas A&M – Well this game would be one brutal game, these are two teams that play some hard nose football, especially on defense. Texas A&M has not been tested so far this year and will get their first test this week against Arkansas, while Mississippi’s schedule has been fairly easy thus far but they play Alabama in their next game. Overall I will say this game is going to be close, but the difference I think is not the running attack of Texas A&M but the passing game, they are throwing for over 300 yards per game, and I think it would be to much for Mississippi to hang in the game.

Winner: Texas A&M

Kentucky vs. Baylor – Well to think Baylor could stay in this game is absurd right? Well I think Baylor is better than most people know so far this year, and have been playing some good ball. Baylor has averaged over 30 points a game thus far, and defense is stingy. Wait that is against high school teams, the only real team they played this far they got clobbered, and Kentucky well they got beat up bad at Florida but that happens to a lot of teams. Kentucky is just more talented and will too hard for Baylor to keep up.

Winner: Kentucky

Vanderbilt vs. Iowa State – Hey did you guys know Vanderbilt is tied for 2nd place in the East conference of the SEC but oh yeah their record is 1-3. I will give them credit though they have played everybody tough. Iowa State is improved from years pass and would be a formidable foe for Vanderbilt. The truth is neither team is really all that great, but not really that bad. I take Iowa State over Vanderbilt just because Iowa State plays better defense.

Winner: Iowa State

Arkansas vs. Missouri – Missouri has started the season 4-0 but has yet to play a divisional game, they are about to get a whole bunch of them. Arkansas only loss of the season came against Alabama in a game they could have won. I’m not even going to waste your time on this one, Arkansas wins.

Winner: Arkansas

South Carolina vs. Texas – Even though Texas has lost 2 games I think they are better than they are getting credit for. They have a few problems on the offensive side of the ball and it’s just the fact they cannot run the ball. South Carolina is a tough team plays good defense and good offense neither of them great but both solid. The running game would be the difference in this game for South Carolina, I think the running game runs down the Texas defense and South Carolina will hold up their pass game with no real run game to worry with.

Winner: South Carolina

Florida vs. Kansas State – Kansas State is another team that has started off 4-0 and has played some respectable teams. Florida has one loss for the season and it was an embarrassing one against the Crimson Tide. Kansas State would shed a chance because their running game is tough and Florida has a small problem stopping the run. Kansas State is definitely making strides of getting better but the difference between Alabama beating the Gators and Kansas St. is Alabama’s defense is ridiculously good and Kansas States is not. Florida takes this one is a close one.

Winner: Florida

Auburn vs. Oklahoma State – I’m just going to say one thing Oklahoma States defense is not that great but their offense is about impossible to stop. Auburn’s offense is not a great one but they know how to get things done, Oklahoma would have a hard time stopping the Auburn QB but it won’t matter because they don’t have to, they will just outscore Auburn. I think Auburn would go in as the favorite and you would see an upset on this one. Oklahoma would outscore Auburn to win 44-37.

Winner: Oklahoma State

LSU vs. Nebraska – Now this would be a game I would love to watch, see two defenses just kill the others offense. Nebraska offers good offense with a great defense. LSU has a mediocre offense with a great defense. LSU been squeaking by some close games, and I think this is another close game but does not fall in LSU favor this time.

Winner: Nebraska

Alabama vs. Oklahoma – Well now the big boys match up, and the question is, is the best in the Big 12 better than the Best in the SEC? Well Oklahoma is a well-coached group under Stoops, play good offense and great defense. Alabama is the returning champs and play good offense and great defense. The difference makers are those 2 studs at RB for Alabama, Ingram and Richardson. Alabama I think not only beats Oklahoma but beats them easily.

Winner: Alabama

The Sec I believe would take out the Big 12 7-5. The difference once again being the upper tier teams are just head and shoulders better than everyone else’s. Looking like the SEC is going to stay the toughest conference in the NCAA, next week they take on the Big East.

  1. So, you say the SEC top teams are head & shoulders above the Big XII but yet you have Nebraska beating LSU and OK State over Auburn...I think you may need to rethink your statement. :)

  2. Well im talking the top 6 teams not the elite teams. I Break it down Top 6 and Bottom 6. I believe the top 6 SEC teams are 4-2 agaisnt the Big 12. We all know this could go either way thats why its a speculation and only way we would ever know is if they played the games.

  3. Well you didn't spell that out...all I see is 2 of the top 3 SEC teams losing in your predictions and then you backing it up with the top teams in the SEC being heads and shoulders better than the Big XII.

Anyway, I think the Big Ten will have a say after Nebraska joins. Suddenly, you will have Nebraska, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State all being among the nation's elite in a given year. With the occasional rise of an Illinois, Northwestern or Purdue, that can become the best league in the country.

Though I'm not a fan of Michigan, it's great for the league to have them be back in the national picture.

  4. I don't think I can disagree with that, Big 10 definitley becomes much better when Nebraska joins, and if you go back and ready my SEC vs Big 10 only reason SEC won was because Ohio St couldnt play twice and if that was the case they tied, and I think with Oklahoma in their they could win.
