So Far In Week 2...

Ravens/Bengals/Jets/Patriots
Well it has been another week and when you think you have this league figured out it is amazing how quickly it shows you that you don’t. Ravens have a big win against the Jets last week, and then what happens, they go to the Bengals were you have to start to be concerned about the Ravens offense. Week 1 it was just how good the Jets Defense was, well after Week 2 it is how bad the Ravens offense is.  Bengals took care of business though to go 1-1 for the season.  Not very entertaining games once again as the Defense were the stars in this game. Ravens will try to get their offensive woes figured out against the Browns next week.  Also talking about parody of this league, Bengals beat Ravens, and Ravens beat Jets,, so when Jets played Patriots, the Patriots should have an easy win right? Wrong! First half went well for the Patriots but out came the fired up Jets in the 2nd half and took care of business.  Not allowing any points from the Patriots in the 2nd half. Marc Sanchez and not Tom Brady threw for 3 Touchdowns and looks like the Jets stopped talking and started playing.  Patriots should figure it out against the Bills and get back on track while the Jets  go down to Miami and that should be a tough game.
Cowboys/Bears/Vikings/Dolphins
Jerry Jones is the man right? He has a billion dollar stadium, America’s team, and all the money he could want, but what he doesn’t have is a win this season. The Bears came into Dallas and upset the Cowboys with solid play by Jay Cutler 3 Touchdowns and 0 Interceptions, while Tony Romo threw for over 350 yards but had 1 Touchdown and 2 Interceptions. The question is starting to rumble are the Cowboys just not that good, or is the Redskins and Chicago just that good? I will say I don’t think it is the latter, but they better turn it around quickly or Jerry Jones might do some house cleaning starting with the Head Coach. They will have no easy test with the Houston Texans next week and we will find out what Chicago is about against the Redskins.  Speaking of disappointing starts how about the Minnesota Vikings? They pay Favre all this money to comeback and he is becoming the reason they are losing.  Throwing 3 Interceptions and fumbling in the end zone, helped the Dolphins to a win. Adrian Peterson did have a chance to win it but could not punch it in from the 1 yard line on 4th and goal on 1 yard line. Dolphins though have some bright spots especially on defense, they did allow a touchdown but that was because Ricky Williams fumbled on the 3 yard line giving even the worse teams an easy score.  Chad Henne didn’t try to do too much and he threw 1 Touchdown and 0 Interceptions. Ronnie Brown looked like he got his legs back from under him with 13 carries and 80 yards rushing.  Dolphins will have a defensive battle against Jets next week, while the Vikings will battle the Lions.
Tampa/Panthers/Chiefs/Browns/Steelers/Titans
Tampa was not supposed to be good this year but they are 2-0. They played the Panthers and for the most part Tampa dominated. They allowed one long TD pass from Steve Smith but other than that they shut down the Panthers, allowing Williams only 54 yards on 17 carries and Matt Moore 6-16. Josh Freeman is growing up it seems and taking care of the ball and throwing for Touchdowns, he had 2. We will see how for real Tampa is when they battle the Steelers next week, and for the Panthers it gets no easier with Bengals coming to town. Another surprise so far this year is the Chiefs, who saw them beating the Chargers on MNF? I know I didn’t and with an easier game against the Browns they should have an easy win right? Well it wasn’t easy but it was a win. Brandon Flowers was the hero returning a pick 6 giving the Chiefs the lead and the win. The Browns are just the Browns not much to say about them except it is going to take a few years for Holmgren to turn them around. The Browns road gets no easier playing a upset Ravens team looking to rebound and the Chiefs will take on a 49ers team that so far has not looked impressive but will see what they do against the Saints on Monday Night.  How about those Steelers? They keep on winning they are going to be saying Ben Who? Actually what is scary is this seems like a year that could be anybody’s year and with return of Big Ben that could catapult the Steelers to one of the best in the leagues. They made a high power Titans offense look like a joke and causing Vince Young to get benched. They held Chris Johnson to 16 carries and 34 yards, so much for him tying Barry Sanders record.  Steelers Offense did not look great but they got the job done; now they look to take on the Buccaneers, and Titans will face the Giants.
Chargers/Jaguars/Eagles/Lions/Cardinals/Falcons/Colts/Giants
Looking to bounce back were the Chargers, while the Jaguars were trying to show they were here to compete, well the Jaguars forgot their mojo I guess because Chargers showed they are still a top team. They took care of business but have to be some concern with Rivers throwing Interceptions and with the running game. Jaguars could rush the ball well or throw the ball well, so the defense might end up being a big factor for the Chargers later on in the season. Chargers look to take on the Seahawks next week, while the Jacksonville looks to rebound against the Eagles, speaking of the Eagles, welcome back Michael Vick.  Eagles needed to rebound from their tough lost and while the Lions are showing that they have talent, got edged out by the Eagles. Impressive enough though was Vick being able to put up 35 points of offense in his first start in four years. Can we say QB controversy, whether Reid believes it or not.  Lions have had two tough losses and are better than their 0-2 record. Eagles will be taking on Jacksonville while the Lions will have to face the Vikings trying to get to a win this season.  Another team looking to rebound was the Falcons and they did so in a big way, a 41-7 win over the Cardinals. I do think the Cardinals are better than they played but Derek Anderson is going to need a solid rushing game to be effective. Snelling took over for Turner after his injury and showed that he could handle the load.  Breaston was not a big target this week but they could not get anything going on offense so look for better week next week. The Cardinals will take on the Raiders in their home opener, while the Falcons will have a tough test with the Saints.  The other team in desperate need of a rebound was the Colts. They were embarrassed by the Texans the week before and could not afford to start the season 0-2. They answered in a big way dominating the Giants 38-14. The Giants were pretty much ineffective doing anything on offense as the Colts defense was swarming all over the place. Manning is well Manning and younger brother Eli didn’t have a great day.  The Colts will take on the Broncos next week and the Giants will have the Titans.
Broncos/Seahawks/Packers/Bills/Rams/Raiders
Also this week after a big last week the Seahawks struggled against the Broncos, letting the Broncos taking the win to make record 1-1 all. Orton could be posing himself a solid QB throwing for over 300 yards. Moreno did not have much running room just like Gore did not the week before but was effective catching passes. Demaryus Thomas played and played well, he could be the player they need to keep that offense going. Seahawks just had a shaky game were turnovers hurt them, but they do have the ability to turn it around. We will find out if the Seahawks can do that next week against the Chargers as the Broncos will take on the Colts. Speaking of easy wins the Packers waltzed in for an easy win against the Bills. The Bills are a tough team but Gaily is going to take some time to get the team to a contender. Green Bay did exactly what it needed to do to solidify its spot as a top team. Unfortunately for the Bills gets no easier taking on the Patriots and the Packers will get to show their best in their division taking on the Bears. In the most irrelevant game this week the Raiders beat the Rams 16-14. Gradkowski came in for Campbell to lead them to the win. Bradford did look good again this week just going through the learning curves, and he only threw 25 passes this week instead of 50+. Look for the Rams to get better as the season goes along, and the Raiders well they are the Raiders. Raiders will take on the Cardinals that is more of a make or break game for the Cardinals and Rams will face a tough Redskins team.

That is what has been going on so far in week 2, who would of thought Tampa, Chiefs, Texans, and Dolphins would all be 2-0 and Cowboys and Vikings would be 0-2. As we all should know this is a long season so anything can change, but tune in next Monday to find out what is going on.

                      *******************UPDATE****************************

MNF- Saints vs. 49ers
Who thought the Saints would roll the 49ers after that embarrassing loss 49ers had last week against the Seahawks? I did, well I didn’t think they would roll them but did not think they would have a very tough time with them. Saints being the defending Super Bowl champs with aspirations of doing it again this year and most their starters coming back for another year, they should be in sync.  It is tough to say the Defense looks good because the way the ball is moved on them, but they do cause turnovers. This is what killed the 49ers in this game, all the turnovers, two of the turnovers happening in scoring range. Frank Gore did have a bounce back game being very productive and being an outlet for Alex Smith. Alex Smith played much better leading the 49ers on an 75+ yard drive in 4th quarter and converting a two point conversion to tie the game with less than 2 minutes on the clock. Then Drew Brees showed why he is best in the business leading the Saints all the way to the 17 yard line for an easy Hartley Field Goal. The good news is if you are a 49ers fan your team played much better, the bad news is your 0-2. Saints fan you have to be somewhat concerned about your offense but they have played some tough defenses see what happens next week when you take on Atlanta,  and 49ers will try to get their first win against the Chiefs.
