MLB Playoffs

Well looks like the playoff teams have been settled and the playoffs will start Wednesday October 6th. The playoff teams from the AL are Texas, Minnesota, New York Yankees, and Tampa Bay, and the NL teams are Philadelphia, Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Giants.

Matchups:

Texas vs. Tampa Bay – This matchup I don’t think will be an easy one for the Tampa Rays. It will be Cliff Lee vs. David Price and that one could go either way, and it will be the big bats of the Rangers vs. the small ball of the Rays that will make the difference. The Rays pitching rotation I believe is little deeper and that ultimately will give the Rays what they need to win this matchup. The Rays win this series 3-1.

New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins – I think this series favors Twins in a short series because you don’t want to have to beat one of the best teams in the league 4 times. The hitting is definitely in favor of the Yankees but the Twins just tend to play solid ball all the way around but the Yankees are a veteran team and know how to win. C.C Sabitha will be big for the Yankees in the post season and they still have the best closer in baseball with Marino Rivera. The Yankees sweep the Twins 3-0.

Cincinnati vs. Philadelphia- Well the Phillies are probably playing the best ball going into the playoffs than any team. The Reds have a weapon in Aroldis Chapman throwing 105mph heat that any of the Phillies will have a hard time hitting; the problem though is getting to Chapman with a lead. The Phillies will take this series but it will be a close one 3-2.

Giants vs. Braves- Well isn’t it a great thing to see Bobby Cox play little bit more before he retires from managing, and isn’t it great to see the Braves make the playoffs after playing great all year and almost choked it away at the end. The Giants are a good club that has solid pitching as do the Braves. The hitting will be the problem with this matchup and expect to see some low scoring games. I think though you will see the Braves take the Giants in 5 games.

Well this is just a nice quick review of the MLB playoffs that is playing with my prediction of winners. Of course they still have to play the games because anything and everything is possible when it comes to the pros. I will come up with my next round predictions once we have all the winners but if I am right we will see New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves. Ironically it will be AL East teams and NL East teams playing for their division’s pendant. Maybe MLB should realign the divisions, just something to think about, but everybody enjoy the playoffs.
